LBC Hello Spring 4+
Let's kick off Spring with some new books! Perfect additions to your bookshelves year after year. Our holiday collection is back to celebrate the warmer weather and rebirth of the plants and trees around us.
Kindness Grows by Britta Teckentrup - It all starts with a crack that we can hardly see, It happens when we shout or if we disagree. But with every kindness that we care to show, Something good and magical then begins to grow. A beautiful book that includes cut outs on each page reflecting both the crack growing and the tree blossoming, this book will help connect your little ones understanding of conflict and kindness. How their behaviours can cause reactions both good and not so good. Our favourite book in this collection!
Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring! By Kenard Pak - Okay, you caught us, this is a favourite series because of of the simplicity in text and the powerful message for each season shift. As days stretch longer, animals creep out from their warm dens, and green begins to grow again, everyone knows―spring is on its way! Join a boy and his dog as they explore nature and take a stroll through the countryside, greeting all the signs of the coming season. In a series of conversations with everything from the melting brook to chirping birds, they say goodbye to winter and welcome the lushness of spring.
Paired with seed paper, soil & gardening tools to grow your own plant. Plant care in a Montessori environment is meant to inspire a child's participation in the world around them. Plant care doesn't have to be a big deal or take up a lot of space. It's really one of those beautiful, organic ways that a child can participate in your home. It gives children the opportunity to notice small changes, to remember how to fix the problem, and the satisfaction of caring for the plant and their environment once the task is completed. There are obviously very natural consequences to not taking care of the plant.
We hope this little activity inspires conversations from the books to growing your own plant with gratitude, appreciation, curiosity and wonder of the world around your little babe!
